Grey County Historical Society
Established in 1955, incorporated in 1984, the Grey County Historical Society aims to discover, preserve, and disseminate the history of the County, to record current life and times that may be of future interest, and to promote County Museums & Archives.
The Society meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday, except for the months of December and January.
Recent and Current GCHS Activities
We publish annually two newsletters with about 40 pages per issue.
We schedule monthly meetings with interesting and informative guest speakers.
We now have a logo for the Society.
We have a brand new website and blog!
We publish a monthly newspaper column "Viva Historica!" in the Sun Times.
We make donations to Grey Roots and other museums.
We have an active research group with research tutorials.
We hosted the Nellie McClung plaque rededication event
Become a Member: We hope you will become a member, our revenue comes primarily from our membership fees. The GCHS membership year is from June 1 to May 31.

GCHS Newsletter The Grey County Historian is published two times a year in March and November. Editor Michael W. Kirby, Grey County Historical Society, Box 548, Markdale, ON N0C 1H0. 519-986-4026. Back issues are available from the Editor. $3.00 at meetings and $5.00 by mail (includes postage).
GCHS Newspaper Column "Viva Historica!" is published the second Wednesday of the month in the Owen Sound Sun Times.
Viva Historica"! is a partnership between The Grey County Historical Society and the Sun Times. It appears in the newspaper on the second Friday of the month. Wanted are submissions about heritage festivals, group meetings, exhibit launches or any activity related to Grey or Bruce County's history.
Do you have a historical tidbit you would like to share, or a story of human interest that was passed down through the generations? How about suggestion for the local history trivia question? The editors will be pleased to accept your copyright-friendly historical photographs pertaining to the counties of Grey or Bruce.
Items should be 50 words or less and should be sent to
