Grey County Heritage Alliance
Founded in 1997, and incorporated with the Ontario Historical Society in 1999, the Alliance was formed to bring all Grey heritage groups together to advocate for the creation and assist the creation of and Archives. The groups was led by founding President Rodger Renton until 2004 and the opening of the Grey County Archives new facility at Grey Roots.
Since then, the group voted to make built heritage and heritage landscape conservation their next priority and, now led by John Harrison, it has advocated widely for the formation of Municipal Heritage Advisory Committees in all Grey local municipalities and the creation of community groups as branches of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario. Successes to date include the formation of Heritage Georgian Bluffs ACO and the Grey Highlands MAC, for example with many others coming to fruition in the foreseeable future.
The Alliance is planning a revival of the regular members' meetings and educational programs soon.
