One of the ways that Billy Bishop’s niece, Mary Worth Bishop, contributed was by joining the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in June, 1943. Mary served overseas as a stenographer and was also one of 6 women chosen to assist in the publicity work for the 5th Victory Loan drive.

Charlie Bell (tenor sax) and his cohorts, Jack McFadden (double bass) and Andy Harasymczuk (guitar) are a popular trio based in the Grey-Bruce area. They offer up a mix of music from various jazz styles, sometimes cool and smooth, sometimes hot and on the edge, and always popular with hard core jazz lovers.

She has released her first CD to international acclaim under the alias "Nura" and her latest work can be heard on Stuart Seinhart's "Edification". Accompanied by Don Buchanan; pianist, saxophonist and clarinetist.

After four years of touring in Canada, the US and Europe, 2010 Juno Award winners Digging Roots have released their new recording "WE ARE". The musical force behind Digging Roots is the chemistry of ShoShona Kish and Raven Kanatakta. Their convergence of styles is that Digging Roots almost undefinable sound...somewhere blurred between the lines of roots, rock, hip-hop, and blues. Backed by their vintage styled rhythm section Digging Roots are now in the middle of a 2010 tour with dates in the US, Mexico, Australia and Canada.

Venue Victoria Park, Princes and Russell Streets - The Georgian Bay Woodwind Quintet was formed in 2005. They have performed concerts locally, including performances in the Candlelight Music Series held at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton, and the Tom Thompson Art Gallery in Owen Sound. The GBWQ members are Meryl Gillmore - flute, Rob Tite - clarinet, Heather Willmes - oboe, Sterling MacNay - bassoon, and Jaime McCormack - french horn.
